„Inge Ofenstein is a leading photographer with an interest in surveillance technologies. Her conventional work has illustrated more than 70 books about architecture, interior design, gardens, and flowers. In addition, she has contributed photography to the major German magazine publishers such as Burda, Weltbild, Meisterverlag, Gruner und Jahr, Atlas, teNeues, Tandem, and OZ Verlag.

Ofenstein established a reputation as a covert surveillance photographer on the American television documentary special In Search of Mengele (1985). Her work for this film was circulated to law enforcement agencies in Germany, Israel, and to the US Marshals Service and the Office of Special Investigations in the United States.

Her more traditional work has exhibited in major exhibitions in Germany and in Portugal. From 1993, she played a leading role in the 'Manna' project, which presented exhibits combining ideas and art, Ofenstein being the project's photographer and contributing to much of the studio art direction.

'Manna' presented its work in conventional art galleries, museums, and in public areas such as department stores, trade fairs, restaurants, and on illuminated screen in 57 U-Bahn (subway) stations throughout Germany. She also exhibited in the culture program of EXPO 1998 in Lisbon at the Museu de Electricidade. Her most recent exhibition was in 2007 entitled Farbe De Blumen-Blumen Der Farbe

Inge Ofenstein originally studied law for five years at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Germany until 1980, before deciding her vocation was in photography and cinematography. She then studied photography for two years at the Staatlichen Fachakademie für Fotodesign until 1983.“
